Job summary

Gladstone Ports Corporation Ltd is seeking a Maintenance Supervisor to lead maintenance across fixed and mobile plant at RG Tanna Coal Terminal and Port Central. You will ensure safe, reliable operations and coordinate teams across day and night shifts.

You will drive a strong safety culture, plan and prioritise work, manage contractors and develop apprentices, delivering optimal asset performance for port operations.

MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR

About The Role

Reporting to the Maintenance Superintendent - Unloading, the Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for leading the safe, efficient and effective execution of maintenance activities across fixed and mobile plant assets at RG Tanna Coal Terminal and Port Central.

This role plays a critical part in ensuring the reliability and availability of key operational assets by coordinating maintenance activities, leading frontline teams, managing priorities and driving a strong safety and performance culture. You will work closely with Operations, Maintenance Planning, Contractors and other stakeholders to optimise maintenance outcomes and support operational performance.

The position operates on a 4-panel continuous shift roster, working 12.5-hour shifts, providing maintenance leadership and supervision across day and night shift operations. As a key frontline leader, you will ensure maintenance activities are safely executed, plant reliability is maximised and effective communication and handovers occur across shifts.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise maintenance teams, fostering a culture of safety, accountability and continuous improvement.
• Coordinate the execution of planned, preventative, breakdown and corrective maintenance activities.
• Plan, prioritise and allocate daily maintenance work to ensure efficient use of resources.
• Drive plant reliability and asset performance to support operational targets.
• Monitor maintenance activities and implement improvements to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
• Support workforce development through coaching, mentoring and performance management.
• Supervise and support apprentices and team members in developing their skills and capabilities.
• Maintain effective communication with Operations and other stakeholders regarding maintenance activities and plant availability.
• Identify and implement opportunities for cost savings and operational improvements.
• Promote and model a strong safety culture through visible leadership and active engagement in the field.
• Manage contractors through the execution phase to ensure compliance with GPC requirements.

Mandatory

Qualifications and Requirements

• Trade Certificate (Electrical or Mechanical)
• C Class Driver’s Licence
• Maritime Security Identification Card (MSIC) or ability to obtain

Desirable

• Diploma or Certificate in Maintenance Management
• Experience within heavy industry, bulk materials handling or port operations
• Knowledge of maintenance management systems, SCADA and related technologies
