Job summary

Novotel Melbourne South Wharf, part of Accor, is seeking an experienced Maintenance Supervisor to lead a small team and hands-on in hotel maintenance. Reporting to the Director of Engineering, you will ensure safety, quality and guest comfort while coordinating with Front Office and Housekeeping to minimize downtime.

The role offers an Above Award rate of $35.50 per hour, ongoing training, and employee benefits within the Accor network.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years' experience supervising maintenance operations, preferably within a hotel, hospitality or facilities environment.
  • Trade qualification in Electrical, Plumbing or Mechanical Engineering would be an advantage.
  • Strong technical knowledge of building services, plant and equipment maintenance.
  • Proven ability to lead a small team while remaining actively involved in day‑to‑day operations.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills with a proactive and solutions‑focused approach.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective relationships across all departments.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative and reactive maintenance throughout the hotel to ensure guest comfort and operational efficiency.
  • Supervise and support a team of two Handypersons, fostering a positive team culture.
  • Prioritise and coordinate daily maintenance activities in consultation with the Director of Engineering.
  • Diagnose, maintain and repair mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems and equipment.
  • Monitor contractor activities and ensure all works meet Accor standards and manufacturer specifications.
  • Monitor utility consumption, record meter readings and identify opportunities for energy conservation and efficiency improvements.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, compliance checks and statutory requirements.
  • Work closely with Front Office and Housekeeping teams to minimise room downtime and expedite room returns to inventory.
  • Assist with departmental rostering, safety inspections, reporting and training requirements.

As Maintenance Supervisor, you will play a vital role in ensuring the hotel's facilities, plant and equipment are maintained to the highest standards of safety, quality and guest comfort.

This is a working supervisor position, requiring a hands‑on approach to maintenance operations while providing leadership, guidance and support to the Engineering team.

What We're Looking For
