Job summary

Akari Care Limited is seeking a Maintenance Operative in Newcastle, NSW. You will be deeply involved in hands-on maintenance to keep the home in excellent condition, supporting resident comfort and safety while collaborating with the home team and manager.

The role requires solid maintenance experience across building trades, mechanical/electrical systems, plumbing and joinery, and a proactive, solution-oriented mindset.

Qualifications

• Experience in a similar environment.
• Solid maintenance experience including building, DIY, cleaning and housekeeping.
• Technical knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems.
• General knowledge of plumbing and joinery.
• All-round maintenance attitude with solution-focused approach.
• Flexible and adaptable to changes at short notice.
• Able to work under pressure without impacting residents or colleagues.
• Warm, approachable and engaging personality.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and improve the home and its surroundings.
• Carry out internal decoration, grounds maintenance, safety measures and building repairs.
• Manage supplies and utilities, ensuring high maintenance standards.
• Share knowledge with colleagues to ensure consistent quality.
