Job summary

Mercure Centro Hotel Port Macquarie is seeking a hands-on Maintenance Officer to look after our 72-room hotel and Birdrock Bar & Grill. You will be responsible for day-to-day maintenance and presentation of guest rooms, public areas, back-of-house and Birdrock, ensuring compliance and brand standards.

This role offers a mix of reactive repairs, planned maintenance and improvement projects, with opportunities to contribute to upgrades and seasonal works across the property.

Qualifications

• Excellent practical maintenance skills and a proactive approach to issues.
• Experience in hotel, facilities or property maintenance is preferred.
• Strong problem-solving and prioritisation abilities.
• Ability to work independently and manage competing tasks.
• High attention to detail and pride in presentation.

Responsibilities

• Carry out preventative and reactive maintenance across guest rooms and hotel facilities
• Complete repairs relating to plumbing, painting, carpentry, fixtures and general building maintenance
• Basic fault finding and first-response repairs
• Maintain pools, plant and equipment in line with schedules and compliance requirements
• Maintain fire safety checks, statutory testing schedules and compliance records
• Conduct routine room inspections and identify issues before they affect guests
• Coordinate and supervise external contractors
• Complete work orders promptly and keep accurate maintenance records
• Assist with planned improvement works across the property, such as room refurbishments and installs

You will be responsible for the day-to-day maintenance and presentation of guest rooms, public areas, back-of-house and Birdrock, and you will play a key part in keeping the property compliant, safe and to brand standard. This is a varied role with a mix of reactive repairs, planned maintenance and improvement projects.

Key Responsibilities

Carry out preventative and reactive maintenance across guest rooms and hotel facilities

Complete repairs relating to plumbing, painting, carpentry, fixtures and general building maintenance

Basic fault finding and first-response repairs

Maintain pools, plant and equipment in line with schedules and compliance requirements

Maintain fire safety checks, statutory testing schedules and compliance records

Conduct routine room inspections and identify issues before they affect guests

Coordinate and supervise external contractors

Complete work orders promptly and keep accurate maintenance records

About You

Trade qualification or equivalent practical experience (carpentry, plumbing, electrical or similar), preferred

Previous experience in hotel, facilities or property maintenance, preferred

Strong practical skills and a proactive approach to solving problems

Able to work independently and prioritise competing jobs

High attention to detail and pride in presentation

White Card and current driver’s licence

Availability for [weekend or on-call requirements, if applicable]
