Job summary

VMCH is seeking two Maintenance Officers in Melbourne to join our Property Asset Management team. You will coordinate maintenance across VMCH sites, manage work orders and inductions, and ensure compliance with safety and policy standards.

Ideal candidates have building maintenance experience, CMMS knowledge, and strong communication skills, with preferred exposure to Aged Care or Retirement Living. This permanent, full-time role offers variety, autonomy, and a meaningful community impact.

Qualifications

  • Background in building and facilities maintenance.
  • Knowledge of fire systems, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, security and lighting.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Excellent time management and ability to juggle competing priorities.
  • Problem-solving skills and a calm, practical approach.
  • Experience in Aged Care or Retirement Living (highly regarded).
  • Experience using a CMMS.
  • Exposure to BMS or AV systems.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and complete maintenance activities across VMCH sites.
  • Act as a key contact for facilities matters.
  • Coordinate contractor inductions and support preventative/reactive maintenance.
  • Manage reactive work orders for building fabric, finishes and fixed assets.
  • Monitor and report asset downtime through PAMS (CMMS).
  • Complete, close and sign off maintenance events and schedules.
  • Conduct asset condition audits, tagging and monitoring.
  • Provide ad-hoc site support, including spot cleaning when required.
  • Build relationships with internal teams, contractors, suppliers and residents.
  • Ensure compliance with VMCH policies, safe work practices and legislation.

VMCH is a Catholic, for-purpose organisation providing aged care, disability services, retirement living, home care, specialist education and affordable housing across Victoria. With more than 100 years of experience, our workforce of 4,000-plus staff and volunteers are dedicated to supporting 15,000+ people primarily in metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria.

Our Property Services team plays a vital role in ensuring our buildings remain safe, welcoming and fit‑for‑purpose for residents, clients and staff.

We are now seeking two Maintenance Officers to join our Property Asset Management team. If you’re proactive, customer‑focused and experienced in facilities maintenance, this role offers variety, autonomy and the chance to make a meaningful impact every day.

What You'll Be Doing

You’ll coordinate and complete maintenance activities across designated VMCH sites, acting as a key contact for facilities matters. Your day will include:
