Job summary

Linktal Recruitment is seeking a Maintenance Leading Hand for a plastics manufacturer in Laverton North, VIC. The role blends hands-on mechanical maintenance with supervision of a small team, with a 9-day fortnight and an early shift from 5:00am to 2:00pm.

You'll lead approximately five technicians, allocate work, diagnose faults, and manage spare parts while supporting production. There is potential to progress into a senior leadership position over time.

Qualifications

• Experience supervising a maintenance team in plastics manufacturing.
• Hands-on mechanical maintenance and fault-finding with manufacturing machinery.
• Knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic and basic PLC systems.
• Experience with injection moulding machines; CAD or welding skills are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of around 5 people and coordinate daily workshop activities.
• Allocate work, organize maintenance jobs, and support production.
• Diagnose faults, repair and maintain manufacturing machinery.
• Troubleshoot mechanical issues and basic PLC faults.
• Manage spare parts, ordering and external contractors.
