Job summary

Plascorp in Altona North, Victoria, is seeking a hands-on Maintenance Supervisor to lead the reliability and efficiency of our plant assets within the plastics manufacturing operation.

You will drive proactive maintenance planning and scheduling, coordinate with production teams to minimise downtime, manage CMMS work orders, procure spares, and ensure safety and regulatory compliance across HVAC, pumps and compressors. Strong communication and leadership are essential.

Qualifications

• Experience supervising a maintenance team in plastics extrusion or similar plastics manufacturing.
• Minimum 3-5 years' maintenance supervision experience.
• Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in maintenance operations across building services, compressors, chillers, HVAC and pumps.
• Strong understanding of maintenance management systems and processes.
• Ability to analyse problems and develop practical solutions.
• Experience in maintenance planning and scheduling, including external contractors (HVAC, electrical, specialists).
• Exposure to Lean Manufacturing and 5S.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with production and maintenance to prioritise and schedule maintenance activities in alignment with production demands, ensuring minimal disruption to manufacturing operations.
• Manage and oversee work orders using CMMS, ensuring high-quality documentation and accurate history logging of maintenance activities.
• Forecast and procure necessary spares, consumables, and equipment ahead of scheduled maintenance tasks, ensuring all materials are readily available to facilitate smooth operations.
• Assess contractor requirements accurately and work closely with teams to efficiently allocate resources.
• Execute preventative maintenance, conducting repairs and refurbishments, and actively participating in ongoing inspections of plant equipment.
• Ensure the availability, reliability, and capability of plant assets through systematic monitoring and effective maintenance strategies.
• Develop and implement strategies to minimise downtime on out-of-order equipment, facilitating prompt recovery and increased operational efficiency.
• Monitor, follow up, and proactively address any issues associated with the implementation and progress of both planned and unplanned maintenance tasks, ensuring continuous improvement in maintenance practices.

We are seeking a skilled, hands-on Maintenance Supervisor to play a vital role in overseeing the reliability and efficiency of our plant assets.

The ideal candidate will have a strong emphasis on proactive maintenance strategies, effective planning and scheduling, timely response to breakdowns, and ensuring a safe, compliant, and high-performing work environment, preferably in the PVC/Plastics environment or similar.
