Job summary

St Joseph's College, Banora Point is seeking a dedicated Maintenance/Groundsperson for a full-time temporary period to support the day-to-day upkeep of the campus. The role focuses on cleaning, grounds maintenance, and safe operation of cleaning equipment in a faith-based school environment.

You will contribute to the upkeep of indoor and outdoor spaces, follow WH&S procedures, and work collaboratively with staff to ensure clean, safe facilities for students and colleagues.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Perform cleaning and maintenance duties for classrooms and facilities.
• Operate cleaning equipment and manage chemicals safely.
• Work as part of a team with limited supervision.
• Maintain security of rooms and buildings and report issues.
• Assist with general maintenance tasks as required.

Commencing Monday 27 July 2026 - Wednesday 27 January 2027

Classification & Benefits:
This role is classified as Level 3 (unaveraged) under the NSW and ACT Systemic Catholic Schools Enterprise Agreement 2025 as updated or reviewed.
Detailed information regarding the level, salary increments, and general employment conditions can be found within the Agreement.

Applicants must:

• hold a valid NSW Working with Children Check
• comply with the Accreditation to Work Teach and Lead Policy upon appointment

Selection Criteria:

• Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to work with all members of the school community both individually and as a member of a team
• Understanding of and capability to apply Workplace Health and Safety standards, especially in the use and application of cleaning equipment and materials
• Proven ability as an effective team member
• Physical fitness is an essential criterion as the role requires some lifting and physical labour.
• Ability to understand the work environment by, learning quickly to use and maintain, cleaning equipment, materials and chemical supplies.
• Supports productive working relationships by carrying out cleaning duties with limited supervision and cooperatively participate as a team member.
• Displays personal drive and integrity.
• Awareness of the need for security in relation to rooms and buildings, personal property and equipment.
• Basic Computer skills.
