Responsibilities include grounds upkeep, equipment servicing, safety checks, and collaborative problem solving, with a focus on resident well‑being and stakeholder relations in a small team.

Qualifications

• Police Certificate current and valid.
• COVID-19 vaccinations recommended.
• Experience in an aged care facility preferred.
• Understanding of Australian Quality Standards in Aged Care.
• Ability to follow WHS and safe work practices.
• Strong written and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the Maintenance Coordinator on property maintenance.
• Execute work according to the maintenance plan.
• Provide professional and effective property maintenance services.
• Gather feedback to identify problems and areas for improvement.
• Maintain a secure environment for residents, staff, and visitors.
• Test and calibrate equipment as per the maintenance schedule.
• Maintain Torbay grounds per Environmental Services standards.
• Care for garden beds: spraying, pruning, watering, sweeping, and removing clippings.
• Maintain grassed areas: mowing, edging, weeding, and mulching.
• Conduct general yard clearing and rubbish removal.
• Keep pathways and external stairs clean and safe.
• Water trees and garden beds as needed.
• Ensure driveways are in good condition.
• Equipment: Store all equipment and machinery safely.
• Service equipment per manufacturer’s instructions.
• Use equipment safely and wear appropriate protective gear.
• Resident Care: Provide efficient, friendly, and professional service to residents.
• Address resident requests promptly.
• Maintain positive interactions with residents and stakeholders.
• Keep resident information confidential.

The Maintenance & Grounds Officer is responsible for delivering the set actions as instruction by the Maintenance Coordinator. This role ensures that all maintenance and grounds actions are attended and completed in a timely manner.

Requirements:

• Valid and current Police Certificate.
• COVID-19 vaccinations x 2 and current flu vaccination highly recommended.
• Demonstrated experience in a similar role, ideally within an Aged Care Facility.
• Demonstrated experience in general repairs and maintenance.
• An understanding of the Australian Quality Standards in Aged Care.
• The ability to comply with the requirements of WHS and safe work practises and related procedures.
• Well-developed written and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to liaise and work with internal and external stakeholders.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Ability to work as part of a small team.
• Ability to prioritise workload.
• Work cooperatively with the team and as directed by the Hotel Services Manager.
