Job summary

Mount Isa City Council is seeking a mechanically skilled maintenance technician to service and repair plant, equipment and infrastructure at the Materials Recovery Facility and waste operations. You will perform inspections, fault finding, and routine maintenance on conveyors, hydraulics, pneumatics and related machinery, reading drawings and recording work orders.

The role requires a Certificate III in Engineering - Mechanical Trade, a C-class licence, high-risk work tickets and experience with

Qualifications

• Certificate III in Engineering - Mechanical Trade (Fitter/Turner or equivalent)
• Current Queensland C Class Driver Licence
• Working at Heights certification
• Welding and fabrication experience
• High Risk Work Licence (Forklift, EWP, Dogging or Rigging)
• Experience maintaining industrial processing plant or similar equipment
• Knowledge of conveyors, hydraulics, pneumatics, gearboxes, drives and bearings
• Fault-finding and troubleshooting skills
• Preventative and breakdown maintenance experience
• Ability to read technical drawings and specs
• Experience with CMMS or similar
• Ability to complete maintenance records and work orders
• Commitment to health and safety
• Team and independent working ability
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills
• Experience in waste management, mining or industrial facilities
• Electrical disconnect/reconnect competency
• Asset management and reliability-centred maintenance practices

Responsibilities

• Maintain plant, equipment and infrastructure for MRF and waste operations
• Inspect, service, fault-find, repair and maintain processing plant and conveyors
• Maximise reliability and minimise downtime
• Read and interpret technical drawings and manuals
• Record maintenance activities and complete work orders
• Utilise CMMS to manage maintenance data
• Ensure workplace health and safety compliance
• Work independently and as part of a team
• Contribute to preventative and breakdown maintenance programs
