Job summary

General Mills in Sydney is seeking a skilled Maintenance Fitter to join our state-of-the-art manufacturing facility. You will perform preventative maintenance, troubleshoot automated equipment, and support continuous improvement initiatives to keep production running smoothly.

The role requires a Certificate III in Mechanical Trade, experience in a food manufacturing or related industry, and strong pneumatics, welding (TIG/MIG), and teamwork skills.

Qualifications

• Certificate III in Mechanical Trade (Fitting and Machining) is required.
• Experience in a food manufacturing or related industry is essential.
• Knowledge and experience with pneumatics is essential.
• Ability to weld (TIG and MIG) and perform minor fabrication.
• Experience with automated plant and mechanical timing.
• Experience with packaging equipment (Case packers/Thermoformers/Conveyors) desirable.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Excellent teamwork and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair a wide range of manufacturing equipment and site infrastructure, following preventative maintenance schedules.
• Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues on automated equipment.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, contributing to increased efficiency and productivity.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Quality, R&D, Engineering) on projects involving new equipment design and installation.
• Ensure all work complies with company health and safety policies.
