Job summary

Chobani Australia is seeking a Maintenance Fitter to maintain, improve and optimise production equipment at our Dandenong South site. You will troubleshoot faults, improve reliability and support site projects with cross-functional teams.

With a recognised Fitter and Turner trade and 5–8 years’ experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, you’ll contribute to safe, efficient operations and capital improvements in a food manufacturing context.

Qualifications

• Recognised Fitter and Turner trade qualification.
• 5 to 8 years’ maintenance and commissioning experience in a high-speed manufacturing environment.
• Strong mechanical fault-finding, troubleshooting and plant maintenance capabilities.
• Experience within food and beverage, dairy or pharmaceutical manufacturing.
• Working knowledge of GMP, HACCP, food safety and quality management systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives focused on equipment reliability, safety and efficiency.
• Support production and equipment trials, including implementation and validation of new processes.
• Fabricate, modify, install and adjust equipment to support operational improvements, projects and trials.
• Perform fault-finding, troubleshooting, planned maintenance and mechanical repairs across production equipment.
• Monitor equipment performance and OEE results, identify root causes of losses and recommend practical corrective actions.
• Maintain high safety standards, including compliance with risk management, lockout/tagout, hot work and confined-space requirements.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Maintenance Fitter, you’ll play a hands-on role in maintaining, improving and optimising our production equipment while supporting continuous improvement, equipment trials and site projects. You’ll use your mechanical expertise to troubleshoot faults, improve equipment reliability and reduce downtime, while partnering with Production, Engineering, Quality, Reliability and Automation teams to deliver practical improvements across the site. This is an opportunity for an experienced fitter who enjoys more than simply responding to breakdowns and wants to be involved in improving how equipment performs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives focused on equipment reliability, safety and efficiency.
• Support production and equipment trials, including the implementation and validation of new processes.
• Fabricate, modify, install and adjust equipment to support operational improvements, projects and trials.
• Perform fault-finding, troubleshooting, planned maintenance and mechanical repairs across production equipment.
• Monitor equipment performance and OEE results, identify root causes of losses and recommend practical corrective actions.
• Collect, record and verify machine settings and operational data to support equipment optimisation.
• Use maintenance systems and digital tools to support asset reliability, data integrity and predictive maintenance activities.
• Contribute to capital projects, new product initiatives and improvements to existing manufacturing processes.
• Maintain high safety standards, including compliance with risk management, lockout/tagout, hot work and confined-space requirements.
• Provide maintenance support across the operation when required to maintain equipment and production continuity.
• Work collaboratively with Production, Engineering, Quality, Reliability and Automation teams.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING

• A recognised Fitter and Turner trade qualification.
• Approximately 5 to 8 years’ maintenance and commissioning experience within a high-speed manufacturing environment.
• Strong mechanical fault-finding, troubleshooting and plant maintenance capabilities.
• Experience within food and beverage, dairy or pharmaceutical manufacturing.
• Working knowledge of GMP, HACCP, food safety and quality management systems.
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify root causes and implement practical solutions.
• The ability to work effectively across operational and technical teams.
• Basic computer literacy, including Microsoft Office and ideally experience using maintenance management systems.
• A Disconnect/Reconnect Licence and stainless-steel welding or fabrication skills would be highly regarded.
