The Midfield Group is seeking a safety-focused Maintenance Fitter & Turner to join our Warrnambool team. You will work with a crew of tradespeople to deliver onsite maintenance and keep our equipment running efficiently.

Qualifications

• Trade certificates in engine reconditioning, fitter & Turner, or machinist.
• Strong experience in a similar role is highly regarded.
• Punctual, reliable, self-motivated and a team player.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Basic computer literacy.
• Pass a drug & alcohol test and pre-employment medical if required.
• Q Fever vaccination or willingness to participate in vaccination.

Responsibilities

• Repairing and maintaining machinery and equipment.
• Scheduling and completing the Preventative Maintenance Program.
• Studying drawings and specifications to determine materials and methods.
• Fabricating and assembling metal parts to produce machines and equipment.
• Checking parts for accuracy using precision instruments.
• Setting up machining tools and controls on machines and presses.
• Forming metal stock and castings to tight tolerances.
• Installing hydraulic and pneumatic pipes and lines.
• Diagnosing faults and performing maintenance on hydraulic systems.
• Erecting machines on-site as required.
• Attending daily maintenance situations and breakdowns.
• Participating in weekly maintenance meetings and toolbox talks.

We own and manage farms, factories, and distribution channels, ensuring complete control over the essential aspects of bringing livestock from paddock to plate.

We have a current vacancy for a safety focused qualified Maintenance Fitter & Turner to join our team located in Warrnambool, Victoria. In this role, you will be required to work alongside a crew of like-minded tradespeople to deliver maintenance onsite.

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Repairing and maintaining machinery and equipment
• Scheduling and completing the companies 'Preventative Maintenance Program'
• Studies drawings and specifications to determine suitable material, method and sequence of operations and machine settings
• Fits fabricated metal parts into products and assembles metal parts and sub-assemblies to produce machines and equipment
• Checks fabricated and assembled metal parts for accuracy, clearance and fit using precision measuring instruments
• Sets guides, stops and other controls on machining tools, sets up prescribed cutting and shaping tools and dies in machines and presses, and sets controls for textile machines
• Forms metal stock and castings to fine tolerance using machining tools to press, cut, grind, plane, bore and drill metal
• Cuts, threads, bends and installs hydraulic and pneumatic pipes and lines
• Diagnoses faults and performs operational maintenance of machines and overhauls and repairs mechanical parts and fluid power equipment
• May erect machines and equipment on-site
• Attending daily maintenance situations and breakdowns
• Attending weekly maintenance meetings and toolbox talks

SKILLS & EXPERIENCES

• Trade Certificates - Engine Reconditioning/ Fitter & Turner/ Machinist and/or other related industry qualification
• Strong experience in a similar role will be highly regarded
• Be punctual and reliable, self-motivated, problem solver & team player
• Strong interpersonal & communication skills
• Basic computer literacy
• You must pass a drug & alcohol test and be willing to undergo a pre-employment medical if required.
• You have already had a Q Fever vaccination or are willing to participate in the vaccination process.
