Job summary

Woodchem Pty Ltd in Oberon NSW is seeking a qualified Fitter to join our Maintenance team. Based at our Oberon facility, you will perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on plant equipment, troubleshoot faults, and support upgrades and decommissioning of old machinery.

You must be a tradesman with strong mechanical knowledge, commitment to safe work practices, and the ability to work independently or with a team in a Major Hazard Facility environment.

Qualifications

• Qualified and experienced tradesman required.
• Extensive knowledge in all facets of mechanical work and safe work practice.
• Experience in machine troubleshooting, fault finding and preventative maintenance.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work unsupervised or as part of a team.

Job description

Woodchem, a Borg Company, is a resin manufacturer for materials used in the joinery and construction industries.

Woodchem produces and distributes a range of products based on formaldehyde, urea, and melamine. The principal products are resins, which are used in the manufacture of Particleboard and Medium Density Fibreboard (MDF) for the use in the building and furniture industries.

Woodchem combine chemistry and high production standards to create all resins in-house for decorative board, benchtops, MDF, and particleboard products, ensuring product maintains durability and stability. This process means that resins are constantly advancing for the industry.

We are currently seeking a Fitter to join our Maintenance team based in Oberon NSW.

Working in a Major Hazard Facility (MHF), you will be responsible for scheduled maintenance and unscheduled breakdown maintenance, and trouble shooting. As we continue to grow our operations, this role is also involved with equipment upgrades, installation of new machinery and decommissioning of old machinery.

About you

To be considered for this position you will:

• Be a qualified and experienced tradesman
• Be able to demonstrate extensive knowledge in all facets of mechanical work and a firm commitment to safe work practice
• Have experience in machine troubleshooting/problem-solving and fault finding
• Have experience in preventative maintenance
• Have excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Possess the ability to work unsupervised or as part of a team

The following qualifications are not essential but will be highly regarded in the selection process:

• Elevated Work Platform Licence
• Confined Space
• Emergency First Aid / CPR
• Working at Height

As part of the selection process, applicants must be prepared to undergo a pre-employment medical examination which includes drug and alcohol testing.
