Job summary

PPG Clayton site in Melbourne's south-east seeks a Maintenance Engineer to lead the safe, compliant and reliable operation of all site mechanical systems and process equipment. You will govern mechanical integrity, ensure statutory compliance and drive asset reliability across lifecycle stages.

You will oversee Mechanical Integrity programs, support risk assessments and optimize CMMS/MES with data-driven backlog management and continuous improvement initiatives that enhance equipment performance.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Industrial/manufacturing environment experience.
• Knowledge of rotating equipment, piping systems, tanks and pressure systems.
• Experience in mechanical safety and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

• Lead and govern reliability, safety and compliance of site mechanical infrastructure; ensure availability of rotating and static equipment.
• Oversee Mechanical Integrity programs; ensure compliance with pressure equipment, piping, tanks and lifting equipment requirements.
• Ensure compliance with all mechanical regulatory and safety systems; maintain safe work practices and statutory inspections.
• Manage and optimise mechanical maintenance systems (CMMS/MES); ensure planning support, accurate data and backlog control.
• Provide technical governance of mechanical standards, drawings, specifications and procedures to ensure consistency and quality across the site.
• Drive continuous improvement in mechanical performance: defect elimination, reliability improvements, asset upgrades.
• Ensure workforce competency and compliance for mechanical activities; address capability gaps.
• Act as site technical authority for mechanical engineering; support risk assessments, HAZOPs and troubleshooting.
