Job summary

Toowoomba Poultry is seeking a Maintenance Electrician to provide timely electrical maintenance across our production facility in Toowoomba. The role ensures minimal downtime through preventative and reactive maintenance on a wide range of machinery and infrastructure.

The ideal candidate holds an Electrician trade qualification with a current electrical license and proven industrial maintenance experience.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification as an Electrician.

• Knowledge of PLCs, automation systems and electrical schematics.
• Familiarity with HACCP, GMP and food safety standards is advantageous.

• Good communication skills and a positive attitude.
• Familiarity with a planned maintenance approach (MEX).
• Ability to work shifts during weekends if required.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine inspections, diagnostics and repairs on electrical systems, motors, control panels, conveyors, refrigeration units and automated processing equipment.
• Troubleshoot and resolve electrical faults to minimize production downtime.
• Install and upgrade electrical wiring, fixtures and control systems in compliance with codes and safety standards.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs and parts usage.
• Collaborate with production and maintenance teams to prioritize tasks and ensure timely resolution of issues.
• Participate in scheduled preventative maintenance programs.
• Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety regulations, including lockout/tagout procedures.
• Assist in commissioning of new equipment and systems.
• Respond to emergency breakdowns and support after-hours maintenance as required.

Job description

Toowoomba Poultry is a well‑established and successful family‑owned poultry processing company, proudly serving the industry since 1973. Our plant is in Toowoomba, where we take pride in delivering high‑quality poultry products to our valued customers.

This position reports to the Plant Manager and is responsible for providing timely maintenance support to our production teams and performing general electrical maintenance tasks throughout the facility.

Fulltime position 5 days per week (8:00am - 4:06pm)

Overtime/weekends may be occasionally required

Call outs for electrical fault resolution (very infrequent)

About the Role:

As a Maintenance Electrician at Toowoomba Poultry, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems and equipment within the production facility. This role ensures minimal downtime and supports continuous operations by performing preventative and reactive maintenance on a wide range of machinery and infrastructure.

Duties will include:

With a Safety and Quality orientated culture and focus, you will:

Perform routine inspections, diagnostics, and repairs on electrical systems, motors, control panels, conveyors, refrigeration units, and automated processing equipment

Troubleshoot and resolve electrical faults to minimize production downtime

The ideal applicant should possess:

Trade qualification as an Electrician

Current electrical license

Proven experience in industrial or production facility maintenance, preferably in FMCG, food or poultry processing

Strong knowledge of PLCs, automation systems, and electrical schematics

Familiarity with HACCP, GMP, and food safety standards is advantageous

Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast‑paced environment

Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.

Good communication skills and a positive attitude towards the job

Familiarity with a planned maintenance approach (MEX)

Ability to work shifts during weekends if required to meet production needs
