Job summary

Accor’s Mantra Sirocco and Zanzibar on the Sunshine Coast invite a practical Maintenance Assistant to keep rooms, amenities and communal areas in top condition. You’ll tackle repairs, preventative tasks and improvements across two properties, supporting guests and a diverse team.

We value hands-on problem solving, safety, and reliable collaboration with leaders, guests, and contractors. Weekend and public holiday availability is expected to fit hospitality schedules.

Qualifications

• Physically capable with a hands-on approach and safe working practices.
• Experience with general building maintenance: carpentry, plumbing, electrical; no formal qualification required.
• Strong communication with staff at all levels, guests and contractors.

Responsibilities

• Take charge of maintaining all rooms, amenities and communal spaces in excellent condition.
• Collaborate with a diverse team and work independently when needed.
• Tackle maintenance tasks and preventative projects as required.
• Address issues promptly to ensure guest satisfaction and safety.

Coastal luxury meets unparalleled elegance at Mantra Sirocco and Zanzibar, located along the Sunshine Coast’s peaceful Mooloolaba Esplanade. No two days are the same working across the Sirocco and Zanzibar properties, which comprise of two and three bedroom apartments and penthouses with spacious balconies and panoramic ocean views, seasonally heated pool and spa, sundeck, BBQ area, and gym. There is plenty to do in and around Mooloolaba and the Sunshine Coast on your days off; from surfing, abseiling and rock climbing, to exploring Australia Zoo, visiting the local markets, or simply relaxing on the beach.

Purpose

As Maintenance Assistant, you will be the master of all trades, prepared to take on any maintenance, repair, paint job or improvement challenge that may arise. You possess the ability to spot issues before they escalte (today's leak could become tomorrow's flood!) and you skilfully employ your handy tools to address a diverse range of tasks, ensuring the property remains in impeccable condition.

Primary Responsibilities

• Take charge of ensuring that all rooms, amenities, and communal spaces within the property are well-maintained and in excellent condition
• Collaborate with a diverse team, requiring both a cooperative mindset and the ability to work independently
• Encounter stimulating challenges that require innovative solutions
• Execute maintenance tasks and preventative maintenance projects as required

Skills And Experience

• Comfortable in a physical role, have a get-up-and-go attitude and be someone who won’t stop until the job is completed in a safe and presentable manner
• Prior experience with practical skills in general building maintenance, including basic carpentry, plumbing, or electrical – no official qualification required
• Great problem solving skills and the ability to communicate effectively at all levels, from the General Manager, to guests and contractors working onsite
• Available to work a variety of shifts including weekends and public holidays as required
