Job summary

Mantra Crown Towers, Surfers Paradise on the Gold Coast, is seeking a Maintenance Assistant to keep guest rooms, facilities and public areas in pristine condition. You will perform repairs, routine maintenance, and small improvements while collaborating with a diverse on-site team.

The role requires practical skills in carpentry, plumbing or electrical work, a proactive approach, and strong communication. Weekend and public holiday availability is expected as part of the shifts.

Qualifications

• Experience in general building maintenance including carpentry, plumbing, or electrical work.
• Hands-on problem solving and attention to safety.
• Ability to communicate effectively with guests, managers, and contractors.

Responsibilities

• Maintain guest rooms, amenities, and communal spaces in excellent condition.
• Collaborate with on-site team and work independently when needed.
• Tackle maintenance and preventative projects as required.
• Adapt to varying shift patterns including weekends and holidays.

Mantra Crown Towers is located in Surfers Paradise, the heart of Queensland’s Gold Coast region. Conveniently located a short walk from the light rail, the property consists of modern one, two and three bedroom apartments and is a drawcard for family holidaymakers with four pools, including waterslides and even a pirate ship on site! Have fun in your own free time by visiting the many shopping, dining, and entertainment options in Surfers Paradise or enjoy the fresh air, sea, and sand with the beach only 100m away from the hotel!

Purpose

As Maintenance Assistant, you will be the master of all trades, prepared to take on any maintenance, repair, paint job or improvement challenge that may arise. You possess the ability to spot issues before they elevate (today's leak could become tomorrow's flood!) and you skilfully employ your handy tools to address a diverse range of tasks, ensuring the property remains in impeccable condition.

Primary Responsibilities

• Take charge of ensuring that all rooms, amenities, and communal spaces within the property are well-maintained and in excellent condition
• Collaborate with a diverse team, requiring both a cooperative mindset and the ability to work independently
• Encounter stimulating challenges that require innovative solutions
• Execute maintenance tasks and preventative maintenance projects as required

Skills and Experience

• Comfortable in a physical role, have a get-up-and-go attitude and be someone who won’t stop until the job is completed in a safe and presentable manner
• Prior experience with practical skills in general building maintenance, including basic carpentry, plumbing, or electrical – no official qualification required
• Great problem solving skills and the ability to communicate effectively at all levels, from the General Manager, to guests and contractors working onsite
• Available to work a variety of shifts including weekends and public holidays as required
