SMS Personnel Australia Pty Lt is recruiting a machine operator for a world‑class textiles business in Victoria. The role requires 1–3 years of manufacturing experience and mechanical aptitude to operate and train on Dornier knitting and Stent machines.

You will join a small team in a new, purpose‑built facility in Pakenham, with an 7am start and a 38‑hour workweek, offering a competitive hourly rate and weekly pay. Immediate start possible.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of work experience in manufacturing/machine operation.
• Must have mechanical aptitude and the ability to learn Dornier knitting and Stent machines.
• Maintain high attention to detail to ensure fabric quality and yarn specs.
• Able to communicate well in a small team and follow OH&S requirements.

Responsibilities

• Set up Dornier machines and configure looms for new designs.
• Monitor and troubleshoot looms to minimise downtime.
• Perform quality checks for fabric width, pick rate and yarn specs.
• Adjust patterns and mechanisms for different fabrics.
• Carry out routine machine maintenance.

We are looking for a machine operator who can use or can be trained up in using and maintaining Dornier knitting and Stent machines.

Key responsibilities:

• Dornier machine setup: Programming and configuring looms for new design setups
• Maintenance and Troubleshooting: Monitoring tension, repairing and maintaining looms to reduce downtime
• Quality control: Ensuring fabric meets standards for width, pick rate and yarn specifications
• Pattern adjustments: Preparing mechanisms for specific fabrics and adjusting for optimal weaving
• General maintenance on machines

Key requirements:

• Must have mechanical aptitude - will train up the right candidate
