Job summary

Akkodis is hiring a Machine Learning Researcher to lead design, development and evaluation of a secure human-in-the-loop AI platform for handling potentially distressing digital material. You will drive multimodal ML across image, video, text and audio, building robust pipelines in a high-sensitivity security setting.

Qualifications

• Postgraduate qualification in Computer Science, AI, Data Science, Software Engineering or related discipline.
• Demonstrated experience delivering machine learning solutions beyond proof-of-concept stage.
• Advanced Python development skills and hands-on PyTorch experience.
• Experience building reproducible data pipelines and deployable software solutions.
• Strong understanding of model evaluation including precision, recall, class imbalance, calibration and uncertainty.
• Experience working with sensitive or security-controlled information.
• Ability to translate complex operational requirements into practical technical outcomes.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
• Strong knowledge of privacy, security, responsible AI and human oversight principles.

• Lead the design and delivery of a cutting-edge AI capability focused on reducing exposure to extremist and distressing digital material
• Drive applied machine learning research from concept through to operational deployment in a high-impact national security environment
• 12 Months + Extension Options / Ability to obtain Negative Vetting Level 1 / Minimum 4 days onsite per week
