Job summary

Novum Global in Australia is seeking a Corporate M&A Senior Associate to become a Legal Engineer, bridging law and software to automate deal workflows. You will help define end-to-end processes and collaborate with product and GTM teams on automation initiatives.

This role emphasizes a deep M&A practice background, regulatory familiarity, and a passion for transforming traditional workflows through technology, enabling faster, more accurate deal execution.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience in corporate M&A at an Australian law firm.
• Deep understanding of share purchase agreements and asset purchase agreements.
• Experience with due diligence processes and completion mechanics.
• Ability to articulate complex transaction workflows as structured steps.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple concurrent workstreams.
• Genuine interest in technology and willingness to learn how software is built.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Define end-to-end M&A transaction workflows (engagement, due diligence, negotiation, completion).
• Map condition precedent tracking and regulatory approvals, including FIRB/ACCC/ASX as applicable.
• Design automation rules for due diligence management, data room coordination, and checklists.
• Work with the development team to translate M&A processes into product features and data models.
• Design templates for SPAs, disclosure letters, completion checklists, and ancillary documents.
• Identify where M&A teams waste time and prioritise automation opportunities.
• Support GTM with domain expertise for client conversations, demos, and onboarding.
• Validate product features with practising corporate/M&A lawyers.
