Job summary

Peabody Energy's Centurion Mine in Queensland seeks an experienced Longwall Manager to lead the Longwall Department, owning safety, production and operational excellence. You will report to the General Manager and drive performance in a flagship underground coal operation.

Your leadership will build high‑performing teams, coordinate with Maintenance, Technical Services and Mine Planning, and deliver production objectives while upholding statutory requirements and company standards.

Qualifications

• Minimum five years in senior longwall leadership positions.
• QLD statutory qualifications (S1/S2/S3, G2) highly regarded.
• First Class Mine Manager's Certificate of Competency preferred.

The Opportunity

Peabody is seeking an experienced Longwall Manager to join our team at Centurion Mine, located approximately 160 kilometres west of Mackay. This is a rare opportunity to lead one of Australia's most significant longwall operations. Reporting to the General Manager, you will have full accountability for the Longwall Department, ensuring safety, production and operational excellence are embedded across the operation. You will play a pivotal role in driving long-term performance, leading high-performing teams and ensuring the successful delivery of production objectives within a world-class underground coal mining environment.

Your Impact

• Provide strategic leadership and oversight of the Longwall Department.
• Drive long-term production performance and operational excellence initiatives.
• Optimise longwall operations by ensuring systems, people and equipment are positioned for success.
• Partner with Maintenance, Technical Services and Mine Planning teams to support integrated production outcomes.
• Champion a high-performance safety culture through proactive hazard identification, risk management and compliance.
• Monitor equipment performance, productivity trends and departmental budgets to achieve sustainable business outcomes.
• Lead and develop high-performing teams through coaching, mentoring and capability development.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance safety, efficiency and reliability.
• Ensure compliance with statutory obligations, engineering standards and company requirements.
• Contribute to the long-term success and growth of Centurion's underground mining operation.

About You

You are an accomplished mining leader with extensive longwall experience and a proven ability to deliver results in complex underground coal mining environments.

To Be Successful In This Role, You Will Have

• Minimum five years' experience in senior longwall leadership positions at Superintendent or Manager level.
• QLD Statutory Supervisor qualifications (S1, S2, S3 and G2) highly regarded.
• First Class Mine Manager's Certificate of Competency highly regarded.
• Exceptional knowledge of modern longwall equipment, automation systems and strata control.
• Demonstrated success leading high-performing operational teams.
• Strong understanding of underground coal mining safety and risk management practices.
• Experience managing operational budgets and business performance outcomes.
• Excellent communication, leadership and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Commitment to Safety, Integrity, Operational Excellence and Courageous Leadership.
