Job summary

Hickory is seeking an experienced Logistics Manager to oversee all logistics operations on a landmark hyperscale data centre project in Tarneit, Victoria. • Review and adjust logistics plans in response to changing project requirements and site conditions.
• Coordinate just-in-time deliveries to minimise site congestion and maximise efficiency.
• Manage off-site staging areas and pre-delivery material checks.
• Coordinate delivery bookings and ensure site teams are prepared for incoming deliveries.
• Implement and manage vehicle movement plans, loading zones and traffic management controls.
• Liaise with local authorities and relevant stakeholders regarding permits and traffic requirements.

POSITION OVERVIEW

Hickory is seeking an experienced Logistics Manager to oversee all logistics operations on a landmark hyperscale data centre project in Tarneit. This role is responsible for planning, coordinating and managing the movement of materials, equipment, labour and vehicles across a large and complex construction site. Working closely with the Site Manager, subcontractors, suppliers and the external head contractor, you will ensure site logistics are delivered safely, efficiently and in alignment with the construction programme. From coordinating tower crane bookings and delivery schedules to managing site access, traffic control and temporary infrastructure, you will play a critical role in supporting the successful delivery of one of Victoria's largest data centre developments.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develop and maintain the project logistics strategy to support the construction programme and site operations.
• Plan and coordinate phased delivery schedules, site access routes and laydown areas.
• Review and adjust logistics plans in response to changing project requirements and site conditions.
• Coordinate just-in-time deliveries to minimise site congestion and maximise efficiency.
• Manage off-site staging areas and pre-delivery material checks.
• Coordinate delivery bookings and ensure site teams are prepared for incoming deliveries.
• Implement and manage vehicle movement plans, loading zones and traffic management controls.
• Liaise with local authorities and relevant stakeholders regarding permits and traffic requirements.
• Act as the primary logistics contact for subcontractors, suppliers and external stakeholders.
• Review, approve and coordinate subcontractor delivery requests to avoid scheduling conflicts.
• Provide subcontractors with logistics protocols, site access requirements and delivery procedures.
• Monitor compliance with site logistics requirements and escalated issues where necessary.
• Coordinate logistics requirements for major plant and equipment deliveries, including generators, switchgear and CRAC units.
• Support the erection, operation and dismantling of seven tower cranes across multiple site locations.
• Manage logistics issues relating to site access, delivery delays and material handling constraints.
• Coordinate all delivery activities with the external head contractor to ensure alignment across the project.
• Oversee the installation and maintenance of temporary logistics infrastructure, including fencing, signage and loading bays.
• Conduct logistics risk assessments and ensure compliance with WHS legislation and project requirements.
• Participate in safety audits, toolbox talks and incident investigations.
• Ensure all required council permits and approvals are obtained and maintained.
• Attend daily pre-start meetings and relevant site coordination meetings.
• Manage delivery scheduling through HammerTech, including forklifts, crane loading bays and hoist bookings.
• Monitor logistics performance through reporting, dashboards and KPI tracking.
• Prepare regular reports highlighting logistics risks, issues and upcoming constraints.
• Maintain accurate records relating to delays, lost time and contractual impacts.
• Support site emergency response activities and emergency preparedness planning.

TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THE ROLE

• Proven experience as a Logistics Manager, Site Logistics Manager or similar role within the construction industry.
• Experience working on large-scale commercial, industrial, infrastructure or data centre projects.
• Strong understanding of construction site logistics, material handling and delivery coordination.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple stakeholders, subcontractors and suppliers in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience coordinating tower crane operations, hoists, heavy vehicle movements and site access requirements.
• Strong understanding of traffic management, delivery planning and temporary works coordination.
• Sound knowledge of WHS legislation, risk management and site compliance requirements.
• Excellent planning, organisational and problem-solving skills.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.
• Ability to work collaboratively with project teams while managing competing priorities.
