Pacific National, Australia’s largest private rail freight operator, is seeking a Qualified Locomotive Driver or Drivers Assistant to join our team at the Sydney Freight Terminal in Chullora. You will operate locomotives, coordinate with Train Control, and perform routine checks to ensure safe, on-time operations.

Qualifications

• Proven locomotive driving experience.
• High regard for safety and compliance.
• Positive, team-focused attitude with ability to work autonomously.
• Basic computer literacy.
• Current full motor vehicle licence.
• Flexibility to work a 24/7 roster, including local and barracks work.
• Certificate IV in Train Driving (current or nearing completion)

Responsibilities

• Operate Pacific National locomotives in compliance with safe working regulations and driver accreditation requirements.
• Liaise with Train Control to ensure efficient train operations and schedule adherence.
• Prepare and provision locomotives, including system checks and compliance documentation.
• Perform minor maintenance and first-level servicing activities.
• Communicate effectively with internal and external customers to meet operational needs.

What You’ll Do

Reporting To The Supervisor, You Will

• Operate Pacific National locomotives in compliance with safe working regulations and driver accreditation requirements.
• Liaise with Train Control to ensure efficient train operations and schedule adherence.
• Prepare and provision locomotives, including system checks and compliance documentation.
• Perform minor maintenance and first-level servicing activities.
• Communicate effectively with internal and external customers to meet operational needs.

What You’ll Bring

• Certificate IV in Train Driving (current or nearing completion): Please attach your certificate or proof of current study to your application.
• Proven locomotive driving experience.
