Job summary

ACT Government, Delivery – Places and Spaces, is seeking a qualified Locksmith to diagnose and resolve building and security-related issues across government properties. This field-based role offers variety and opportunities to work across diverse facilities, ensuring safe, fit-for-purpose buildings.

You will work with supervisors to plan and deliver tasks, manage priorities and provide high-quality outcomes and customer service, in an ABW environment with no fixed desk.

Qualifications

• Professional/Trade qualifications in Locksmithing (Certificate III or higher).
• White Card WHS induction or willingness to obtain.
• Asbestos awareness training or willingness to obtain.
• Other relevant certificates (e.g., working at heights, confined space, forklift).
• WWVP registration required before commencement.

Responsibilities

• Primarily field-based role across ACT Government properties.
• Plan and deliver work with supervising staff; manage priorities and deliver quality outcomes.

Join Delivery – Places and Spaces and put your trade expertise to work diagnosing and resolving building and security-related issues, working on restricted key systems, Promaster software delivering high-quality maintenance and providing practical solutions that keep buildings safe, secure and fit for purpose.

This is a primarily field-based role where you will work closely with supervisors to plan and deliver your work, manage priorities and provide high-quality outcomes and customer service. You’ll have the opportunity to work across a diverse range of government facilities, with no two days necessarily being the same.

Eligibility/Other requirements: This position requires:

• Professional/Trade qualifications in the named trade speciality - Certificate III in Locksmithing or greater
• Workplace Health and Safety Induction (White Card) or willingness to obtain; General Construction Induction Card (White Card)
• Asbestos awareness card or a willingness to obtain - Asbestos Awareness Training and evidence of completion delivered by a Registered Training Organisation is required before commencement, for further information refer to: Asbestos Awareness Training - WorkSafe ACT
• Any relevant Certificates such as working at heights, confined space, forklift
• Prior to commencing this role, a current registration issued under the Working with Vulnerable People (Background Checking) Act 2011 is required. For further information on Working with Vulnerable People registration refer to - Apply for or renew a WWVP registration - Access Canberra

Qualification/s in Security, Property/Facilities Management, Project Management, Work Health and Safety are desirable.

Notes: A Merit Pool will be established from this selection process and will be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months. Selection may be based on application and referee reports only. This position is based in an activity-based working (ABW) environment. Under ABW arrangements, officers will not have a designated workstation/desk.
