Job summary

Wellington Shire Council in Victoria, Australia, is seeking a Local Laws Officer to enforce domestic-animal controls, traffic and parking regulations, and to support emergency services.

The role involves responding to community concerns, issuing permits, and advising on Local Laws, with after-hours availability and a Certificate IV in Animal Management preferred. Band 5 salary ranges AU$77,357–AU$88,159 per year plus 12% superannuation.

Qualifications

The Local Laws Officer is responsible for managing domesticanimal controls, ensuring traffic and parking compliance, supporting emergencyservices, and assisting with fire prevention strategies. The role also respondsto community concerns, issues permits, and provides advice on Local Laws.

The successful applicant will demonstrate strong judgement, resilience, and theability to engage professionally with the community.

• Knowledge of local laws,traffic regulations, and animal management legislation.
• Experience investigatingcompliance matters and preparing court briefs (training will be providedif required).
• Certificate IV in AnimalManagement (preferred) or relevant experience.
• Physical fitness and theability to work with animals and livestock.
• Current Victorian Driver'sLicence and Working with Children Check.
• Availability to work afterhours as required.
