Job summary

Redland City Council is hiring a Local Laws Officer to balance office duties with field investigations, resolving compliance matters and delivering strong customer service.

You will investigate, prepare documentation and engage with community members while prioritising a caseload in line with legislation. A rotational roster with weekend/public holiday shifts applies, and a supportive team environment is offered.

Qualifications

• Strong customer service and de‑escalation skills.
• Sound judgement in straightforward and complex situations.
• Investigative, analytical and problem‑solving skills.
• Well‑developed written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.
• Experience in local government or applying legislation is desirable.
• Qualifications in Government Investigations or related discipline are desirable.

Responsibilities

• Investigating complaints, conducting patrols and gathering evidence relating to breaches of Local Laws and relevant legislation.
• Taking appropriate enforcement action, including issuing notices and preparing compliance documentation.
• Providing accurate advice and information to customers and stakeholders.
• Managing and prioritising a caseload of investigations in line with legislative and organisational requirements.
• Preparing reports, correspondence and legal documentation.
• Contributing to team outcomes and supporting a high standard of service delivery.
