Job summary

Vulcan in Ipswich, Australia, is seeking a reliable Yard/Loader to join our night shift team responsible for picking, packing, and loading steel products.

You will operate overhead cranes, secure loads, coordinate with dispatch, and maintain a clean, safe workspace while adhering to WHS procedures.

Applicants must have steel industry experience, the ability to work nights 4:00pm–12:06am with 30% loading uplift, and pass medical and drug tests.

Qualifications

• Overhead crane experience is required.
• Experience in steel distribution or similar heavy industry.
• Familiar with steel sections, plate, merchant, tubular.
• Ability to load and secure trucks per dispatch paperwork.
• Pre-employment medical and drug/alcohol tests required.

Responsibilities

• Pick/Pack customer orders with a high degree of accuracy

Job description

What you will be responsible for:

• Pick/Pack customer orders with a high degree of accuracy
• Safely load steel products onto trucks using overhead cranes
• Ensure loads are secure, correctly sequenced, and match dispatch paperwork
• Work closely with the dispatch and warehouse teams to meet daily loading targets
• Maintain a clean and organised work area
• Follow all WHS procedures, including exclusion zones and load restraint requirements

• Night Shift 4:00pm - 12:06am (30%loading)
• Overhead crane experience is a must
• Proven experience working in the steel distribution or similar heavy industry environment
• Working knowledge of Steel sections, Structural, Plate, Merchant and Tubular.
• Experience organizing and loading loading trucks that consist of a variety of steel products (plate, tubular, structural, etc.)
• A strong commitment to safety and teamwork
