Job summary

Australian Agricultural Company (AACo) is seeking a hands-on Livestock Supervisor to lead the Goonoo feedlot team. You will coordinate daily operations, train staff in stock handling, and help drive safe, efficient outcomes with strong leadership and WHS commitment.

You will mentor, plan, and communicate across the team, oversee induction and health protocols, maintain records, and ensure cattle handling meets AACo standards. Driver’s licence and first aid are preferred.

Qualifications

  • Minimum two years’ experience in a leadership or supervisory role.
  • Strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build a positive team culture.
  • Proven ability to mentor, develop and motivate team members.
  • Strong teamwork skills and the ability to build effective working relationships across the business.
  • Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks, meet deadlines and perform under pressure.
  • Mature approach to problem solving, with strong initiative and adaptability in a changing environment.
  • Intermediate computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook) and livestock management systems such as StockaID and Stockmate.
  • Sound cattle handling and horse-riding skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Knowledge of market specifications and the ability to draft cattle to required standards.
  • Current unrestricted Driver’s Licence
  • Current or willingness to obtain a First Aid Certificate, Firearms Licence (Class A & B) and Chemical Users Accreditation.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor and train Livestock Team Members to safely deliver daily feedlot operations.
  • Support the Livestock Manager in planning, coordinating and prioritising operational activities.
  • Act as a key link between the Livestock Manager and Leading Hands, fostering effective communication and team performance.
  • Ensure all cattle handling, treatment and welfare activities are conducted in accordance with AACo policies and procedures.
  • Oversee livestock induction processes, including animal processing, data capture, treatments and movement to feed pens.
  • Monitor animal health, identify and manage sick stock, and administer treatments in line with health protocols.
  • Maintain accurate livestock records, including treatments, stock movements and inventory management.
  • Coordinate the cleaning, maintenance and upkeep of feedlot facilities, equipment and infrastructure.
  • Operate and maintain feedlot machinery and equipment, including loaders, crushes and gates.
  • Ensure compliance with WHS, quality assurance, environmental and company standards.
  • Apply sound problem-solving and decision-making skills to support productivity, efficiency and continuous improvement.

We are looking for a Livestock Supervisor to lead the team at Goonoo. Goonoo Feedlot & Station is situated in the Central Highlands of Queensland, 65km southeast of Emerald, and is a specialised Wagyu feedlot & backgrounding operation.

About the role:
