Job summary

The Vanguard in Newtown, NSW, seeks a proactive Licensee and Venue Manager to lead operations for a 200-capacity live music venue. You will manage guest experience, safety compliance, and financial performance alongside the GM, Owner and staff.

Ideal candidates bring proven venue management, strong customer service, and deep wine/cocktail knowledge, with the stamina for late-night shifts and weekends. Start is urgent; salary negotiable with super.

Qualifications

• Current NSW Approved Manager or Licensee qualification, or eligibility to attain one.
• Proven experience as a Licensee, Venue Manager or Assistant Manager in a boutique or mid-capacity live music venue or hospitality venue.
• Strong wine and cocktail knowledge, with a serious commitment to customer service.
• Sound financial acumen, with hands-on experience managing budgets, COGS and P&L statements.
• Willing to work late on weekends.

Responsibilities

• Lead from the front in the bar and floor during peak hours.
• Greet artists, learn their needs and ensure they leave wanting to return.
• Build relationships with guests, regulars and first-time attendees.
• Oversee private events, site visits, quotes and bookings.
• Ensure compliance with NSW liquor laws and RSA obligations.
• Manage Budgets, expenses and weekly P&L reporting.
• Roster staff to match show schedules and peak trade.
• Coordinate with chef on menus and service style.
