Job summary

BMI Group is seeking a reliable Live-In Night Shift Caretaker for our Recycling Centre and Landfill Facility in Queensland. This role involves overnight surveillance, inspections and emergency response, with you living onsite and reporting to the Site Manager.

You will monitor security, environmental and safety issues, conduct patrols, respond to incidents and maintain logs, supported by private accommodation and a company vehicle for onsite inspections.

Qualifications

• Experience in security, facilities management, maintenance, agriculture, mining, waste or a similar industry.
• Ability to work independently and make sound decisions.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Current Queensland Driver's Licence.
• Basic computer skills.
• Commitment to workplace health and safety.

Responsibilities

• Conduct regular site patrols and security checks.
• Monitor gates, buildings, stockpiles and operational areas.
• Investigate alarms, CCTV alerts and unusual activity.
• Respond to after-hours incidents including security breaches, fire alarms and severe weather events.
• Inspect plant, equipment and infrastructure for damage or safety concerns.
• Maintain inspection logs and incident reports.
• Liaise with emergency services when required.

About the Role

We are seeking a reliable and self-motivated Live-In Caretaker to provide overnight site surveillance, inspections and emergency response support at our Recycling Centre and Landfill Facility. This is a unique role suited to someone who is comfortable working independently at night and living onsite. You will be responsible for monitoring the facility outside normal operating hours, conducting site patrols, responding to incidents, and ensuring the site remains safe and secure. Reporting directly to the Site Manager, you will be the first point of contact for security, environmental, safety, and operational issues occurring overnight.
