Job summary

Department: SS Support Services Executive – Bathurst NSW is seeking a Sound Reporter Dual Remote to monitor multiple live court proceedings from a transcription centre, with occasional in-person court coverage. You will prepare documentation, follow style guides, and ensure accuracy under high-pressure scenarios.

The role offers hybrid work arrangements in a dynamic NSW public sector environment, with travel to regional courts as needed and a clear path within the Clerk Grade 4 salary band.

Qualifications

• Advanced Listening and Comprehension – interpret diverse voices and accents in noisy court environments.
• Jurisdictional and Procedural Knowledge – familiarity with NSW court procedures and protocols.
• Technological Adaptability – stay current with transcription tech and standards.
• Multitasking and Physical Coordination – maintain focus while recording and monitoring remotely.

Responsibilities

• Work effectively in a team and under pressure, meeting tight daily transcript deadlines.
• Handle up to 4 matters simultaneously to ensure timely transcripts.
• Summarise and edit legal discussions per RSB Transcription Manual standards.
• Occasionally travel to regional courts as the sole RSB representative, managing logistics.
• Troubleshoot and coordinate with court staff to ensure quality sound recordings.
