Job summary

Varsity in Australia is seeking a Kitchen Team Member to master food preparation, cooking and presentation to Varsity standards. You will work across prep, fry, grill, pizza and salad stations, ensuring meals are delivered on time and hygienic practices are followed.

The role welcomes applicants with a Cert 3 in Commercial Cookery, as well as enthusiasm and a love for good food. Previous kitchen experience is helpful but not essential, with opportunities to learn and grow within the team.

Responsibilities

• Master food preparation, cooking and presentation to Varsity standards.
• Follow recipes and kitchen guides to ensure consistency.
• Ensure meals are served in a timely manner.
• Maintain a safe and hygienic kitchen, following cleaning guidelines.
• Participate in all technical cooking tasks including grilling, frying, and meat/poultry.
• Work across prep, fry, grill, pizza and salad stations.
• Support stock rotation and freshness of ingredients.
• Deliver food and service to Varsity standards.
• Assist in training and developing junior team members.
• Bring passion for food and a positive attitude to every shift.

What will you do?

• Master food preparation, cooking and presentation to the Varsity standard.
• Follow recipes and kitchen guides.
• Ensure meals are served in a timely manner.
• Maintain a safe and hygienic kitchen, that adheres to all food preparation and cleanliness guidelines. Also ensuring staff are following the kitchen cleaning systems.
• Participate in all technical aspects of cooking including but not limited to grilling, deep frying, and cooking meat and poultry.
• Work across all stations in the kitchen including prep, fry, grill, pizza and salad stations.
• Support with stock rotation, making sure our ingredients are as fresh as can be for our guests.
• Deliver food and service to Varsity standards.
• Support the training of the team.
• Bring a passion for food and a positive attitude to every shift.

What Will You Bring?

• Cert 3 in Commercial Cookery or equivalent is preferred
