Job summary

MMG's Dugald River Mine in North West Queensland seeks a qualified Light Vehicle Mechanic to diagnose, repair, and maintain light vehicles and auxiliary equipment across a mining operation. You will support preventative maintenance, breakdown response, and safety-led repair work to ensure fleet reliability and compliance with OEM specs.

The role offers on-site accommodation, a competitive salary package with annual bonus and local allowances for residents of Cloncurry and Mt Isa.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification as Light Vehicle Mechanic (Certificate III in Engineering - Mechanical Trade or equivalent).
• Proven experience maintaining and repairing Light Vehicles and Auxiliary equipment in a mining/industrial environment.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
• Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment.
• Hands-on experience with maintaining and repairing mechanical and electrical systems in Toyotas, LDV and auxiliary equipment.
• Familiarity with OEM software and diagnostic tools is an advantage.
• Experience using maintenance management systems (e.g., SAP) for tracking work orders and equipment history.

Responsibilities

• Perform scheduled maintenance, servicing, and inspections of Light Vehicle and Auxiliary equipment.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical faults.
• Ensure repairs and maintenance meet MMG standards and OEM specifications.
• Respond to breakdowns to minimize downtime.
• Adhere to MMG preventative maintenance schedules.
• Conduct pre-start checks to ensure safety and operability.
• Follow MMG health and safety regulations and use PPE.
• Identify and report safety hazards and incidents.
