Job summary

Southern Cross Care NSW & ACT is seeking a passionate Lifestyle Officer to join the Banora Point team. You will plan and deliver lifestyle, leisure and recreational programs that reflect each resident’s interests, abilities and goals, working closely with residents, families and the broader team.

You’ll promote choice, independence and social connection while ensuring documentation, assessments and program evaluation are maintained to high standards.

Qualifications

• Certificate IV in Leisure and Health (or equivalent qualification).
• Experience in lifestyle, leisure, recreation, aged care, community services or a similar role.
• A genuine passion for supporting older people to live fulfilling and meaningful lives.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to build trusting, respectful relationships with residents, families and colleagues.
• Strong organisational, time-management and documentation skills.
• Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team.
• Creativity and flexibility in developing activities for diverse interests and needs.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver person-centred lifestyle programs promoting independence and wellbeing.
• Complete resident assessments and maintain accurate documentation.
• Develop individualized leisure programs addressing residents' social, emotional, cultural, spiritual, physical and cognitive needs.
• Facilitate one-to-one activities, group programs, recreational activities and events.
• Support residents to maintain friendships and participate in community activities.
• Plan outings and bus trips with proper preparation and safety.
• Monitor and evaluate programs; adapt to residents' needs.
• Seek feedback from residents and incorporate ideas into planning.
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to deliver engagement and meaningful living.
• Support quality, compliance and accreditation requirements.
• Foster a welcoming, inclusive environment where residents feel heard and valued.

About the Role

We are looking for a passionate and creative Lifestyle Officer to join our team at Banora Point on a Full Timebasis (Thursday and Friday).

You’ll plan and deliver engaging lifestyle, leisure and recreational programs that reflect each resident’s interests, preferences, abilities and individual goals.

Working closely with residents, families and the broader interdisciplinary team, you’ll create opportunities that promote choice, independence, social connection, wellbeing and purposeful living.

What You’ll Be Doing

As a Lifestyle Officer, you will:

• Develop and deliver person-centred lifestyle programs that promote residents’ independence, choice, wellbeing and quality of life
• Complete resident assessments and maintain accurate and timely documentation
• Develop individualised leisure and lifestyle programs that respond to residents’ social, emotional, cultural, spiritual, physical and cognitive needs, interests and abilities
• Facilitate a variety of one-to-one activities, group programs, recreational activities and special events
• Support residents to maintain existing friendships, develop new connections and participate in community activities
• Plan and facilitate outings and bus trips, ensuring appropriate preparation, documentation and safety requirements are met
• Regularly monitor and evaluate programs to ensure they remain relevant, engaging and responsive to residents’ needs
• Seek feedback from residents and incorporate their ideas and preferences into program planning and continuous improvement
• Work collaboratively with the interdisciplinary team to deliver high-quality engagement and purposeful living opportunities
• Support the Lifestyle and Leisure team to meet relevant quality, compliance and accreditation requirements
• Help foster a welcoming and inclusive environment where residents feel heard, valued and connected

You are a people-focused, enthusiastic and creative individual who genuinely enjoys working with older people. You understand that meaningful engagement can have a significant impact on a person’s wellbeing and quality of life.
