Job summary

RSL LifeCare Limited is seeking a Recreation and Engagement Assistant in Newcastle, NSW. You’ll contribute to meaningful resident activities, support wellbeing, and work within a supportive team to deliver person-centred care in our aged care homes and community services.

The role emphasises a compassionate, positive outlook, experience in lifestyle teams, and understanding of aged care principles. Australian work rights and relevant checks are essential for this position.

Qualifications

• A fantastic outlook on life with a fun personality.
• Experience in Lifestyle/Recreational Activities teams in Aged care/Disability/Community services desirable.
• Cert IV in Leisure and Health and/or relevant tertiary degree preferable.
• A sound understanding of aged care and guiding principles of the sector.
• Australian work rights.
• RSL LifeCare Police Check or NDIS check required for Aged Care roles.

Responsibilities

• Support residents' goals of care in partnership with residents or their representatives.
• Identify barriers to participation in meaningful activities.
• Encourage wellbeing and independence through engagement in activities and interests.
• Embody a person-centred approach respecting individual goals and preferences.
• Participate in risk management and quality improvement activities.
• Build strong team relationships to deliver positive resident outcomes.

• Support the goals of care for the residents in the service in partnership with each resident and/or their representative
• Identify barriers that prevent consumers from participating in meaningful and enjoyable activities

• Embody a person-centred approach, recognising and promoting the individual's unique goals and preferences
• Participate in risk management and continuous quality improvement activities
• Build strong and productive relationships with your team to deliver positive outcomes for residents

• A sound understanding of aged care and the principles guiding this sector

• It is a mandatory requirement for a team member working in the Aged Care sector to have a valid RSL LifeCare Police Check or a valid National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) check, or potentially both, to undertake the inherent requirements of the role.
