Job summary

Compass Group Pty Limited is seeking a dedicated Lifeguard to join our team supporting the Australian Defence Force at Lavarack Barracks. You will oversee daily gym and pool operations, ensuring safety, compliance, and a welcoming environment for Defence personnel.

The role requires proven experience in fitness or aquatic settings, current Lifeguard Award and First Aid qualifications, and a valid driver's licence. Part-time hours and a competitive rate of $29 + Super are offered.

Qualifications

• 3+ years’ experience in a fitness, aquatic, recreation, or supervisory role (for Sport & Recreation positions).
• Certificate III or IV in Fitness (essential for gym-based roles).
• Current Lifeguard Award (for aquatic roles).
• Level 1 First Aid & CPR, with ability to administer oxygen.
• Experience managing staff rosters, attendance, and performance (where applicable).
• Friendly, reliable, and professional with strong communicationskills.
• Comfortable working in structured, high-compliance Defence environments.
• Current Australian Driver’s Licence and reliable transport (some sites may require travel).
• Strong commitment to safety, teamwork, and operational excellence.
• Australian Citizenship is mandatory (Defence security clearance required).
• Ability to obtain andmaintain National Police Check and Defence clearance

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily gym and pool operations, ensuring compliance with safety, water quality, and legislative requirements.
• Supervise facility users and maintain emergency response readiness, including lifeguard coverage.
• Conduct inspections, maintain compliance records, and enforce safety procedures.
• Support fitness and aquatic facility compliance standards.
• Deliver customer service, conduct inductions, and maintain clean, safe, and well‑maintained facilities.
• Respond to emergencies, report incidents, and promote a culture of safety, wellbeing, teamwork, and professionalism.
