Job summary

Waverley Council is seeking Casual Lifeguards to join its Lifeguard services team. You will help keep beach users safe, respond to incidents, and support rescue operations on Waverley beaches.

The role requires strong communication, effective conflict resolution, and the ability to manage safety for large crowds in dynamic conditions. Applicants should hold required certifications in aquatic rescue and first aid, plus a current Class C license and NSW Working with Children Check.

Qualifications

• Certificate II in Public Safety (Aquatic Rescue) and related aquatic rescue certifications.
• III Public Safety (Aquatic Rescue) optional enrolment for candidate.
• Advanced Resuscitation and First Aid certifications required.
• Spinal care and pain management qualifications or enrolment will be considered in assessment.
• Driving license and NSW Working with Children Check required.

Responsibilities

• Provide services on Council’s beaches by monitoring and advising beach and water users.
• Coordinate and perform rescue activities when required.
• Demonstrate strong communication and conflict resolution with public, team members and stakeholders.
• Mitigate risks in unpredictable beach conditions.
• Manage and monitor safety of large numbers of beachgoers.

Job description

Waverley Council is looking for Casual Lifeguards to join our Lifeguard services team. You will play a key role in maintaining safety of beach users and responding to incidents at Waverley beaches.

• Rotating roster. Monday to Friday
• Casual
• Salary: $46.47 - $55.74 including 25% loading plus applicable allowances
• Uniforms & PPE Supplied

The Role

In this role you are responsible for but not limited to:

• Providing service on Council’s beaches through monitoring and advising beach and water users
• Coordinating and providing rescue activities when required
• Strong communication and conflict resolution skills when dealing with the public, team members and other stakeholders
• Ability to mitigate unpredictable risks
• Managing and monitoring the safety of mass number of beach goers
• Certificate II in Public Safety (Aquatic Rescue) (PUA20119)
• Certificate III Public Safety (Aquatic Rescue) or willingness to enrol and complete
• Advanced Resuscitation Certificate (HLTAID007)
• Occupational First Aid Certificate or willingness to enrol and complete (HLTSS00027)
• Advanced Spinal Care (PUAEME008)
• Provide Pain Management (PUAEME008) or willingness to enrol and complete (HLTSS00027)
