Job summary

City of Sydney is seeking a strategic leader to establish and run a new legal support function within the organisation. You will work with senior professionals to drive innovation, enhance systems and governance, and deliver critical legal, governance and risk services for a world-class city.

You will lead a team, coordinate cross-department administration, and push process improvements while managing budgets and reporting.

Qualifications

  • Qualifications in business administration, legal services, or related discipline.
  • Experience leading administration or legal support teams.
  • Strong ability to manage budgets, reporting and stakeholder relations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a team of legal support professionals, coordinating workloads and deadlines.
  • Coordinate administrative services across Legal Services, supporting governance and risk.
  • Identify and implement workflow and knowledge management improvements.
  • Manage legal matter reporting, budgets and operational administration.
  • Support use of emerging technologies, including Microsoft 365 tools.

About the role

This newly established leadership role is a unique opportunity to build and lead a high-performing legal support function within the City of Sydney. Working alongside senior professionals, you will drive innovation, improve systems and processes, and help deliver legal, governance and risk services that support a world-class global city.

In this role you will:

  • lead and develop a team of legal support professionals, coordinating workloads and ensuring priorities, quality and deadlines are met
  • coordinate administrative services across Legal Services, supporting legal, governance and risk functions
  • identify and implement improvements to workflows, systems, precedents and knowledge management practices
  • manage legal matter reporting, budgets and operational administration
  • support the responsible use of emerging technologies, including Microsoft 365 tools
  • manage contracts and support engagement with external service providers
  • build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

What you’ll bring:

  • relevant qualifications in business administration, legal services, office management or a related discipline
  • experience leading administration or legal support teams
  • strong experience in legal administration, including litigation and/or conveyancing support
  • excellent organisational, communication and stakeholder management skills
  • advanced Microsoft 365 capability and a passion for process improvement
  • the ability to identify opportunities, implement new ways of working and drive operational efficiencies
  • experience with contract management, TRIM and TechOne will be highly regarded.

This is a rare opportunity to establish and shape a new support model within Legal Services. You’ll have the opportunity to develop people, improve systems and introduce smarter ways of working while making a meaningful impact across the organisation.

This role has the option of a rostered day off each month, known as a 19-day month.
