EML in Sydney is seeking a Legal Specialist to provide guidance on workers’ compensation legislation and to support Work Injury Damages claims within an in-house setting.

Ideal candidates will have a law degree in progress or experience as a paralegal/legal assistant in workers' compensation, with strong stakeholder communication and detail orientation.

Qualifications

• Experience in workers' compensation, particularly statutory claims and Work Injury Damages (WID).
• Pursuing a law degree or experience as a paralegal or legal assistant in a workers' compensation environment.
• Strong communication skills and ability to build relationships with stakeholders.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple matters in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and able to learn new systems.

Responsabilités

• Provide legal guidance to claims teams on workers' compensation legislation, policies and guidelines.
• Support Work Injury Damages claims and statutory litigation, including PI Commission matters.
• Liaise with external legal providers and assist litigation strategies and proceedings as an EML representative.
• Contribute to portfolio reviews, employer presentations and legal projects in the Specialised Insurance Group.
• Monitor case law and legislation changes to support legally accurate decision-making.
