Job summary

Eaton is seeking a front-end construction lawyer to support its in-house team on large construction and infrastructure projects in Australia. You will work under a seasoned General Counsel, handling cradle-to-grave project work with a positive impact across the sector.

The role offers hybrid work arrangements (2 days in the office, 3 days at home) with parking and convenient transport access. You will engage across EPC, DB, O&M and tenders in a fast-paced, multinational setting.

Qualifications

• Experience drafting and reviewing a range of construction contracts.
• Strong ability to negotiate EPC, DB, EPC/DB contracts and subcontracts.
• In-house or secondment experience is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Review and negotiate EPC contracts for major construction projects.
• Review and negotiate DB and O&M contracts.
• Review tenders, JV agreements and key subcontracts.
• Advise on tenders and contracts for PPPs and Alliances.
• Review other commercial agreements for projects.
• Manage external counsel and coordinate with internal stakeholders.

About the Position

Our client is seeking a front-end construction or projects lawyer to work on major construction projects for their in-house legal team. In the role, you will report to a very experienced General Counsel who is friendly and a great mentor.

You will work on the full lifecycle of the projects from cradle to grave and also ongoing operational support. You will work on projects that are rewarding with the knowledge you are making a real positive impact in the daily lives of millions of Australians.

Duties

In the role, you will:

• Review and negotiate Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contracts.
• Review and negotiate Design Build (DB) Contracts, Operation & Management (O&M) Contracts.
• Review and negotiate contracts for tenders, JV Agreements and key subcontracts.
• Advise on tenders and contracts for PPP’s and Alliances.
• Review other commercial agreements.
• Manage external counsel and develop relationships with internal stakeholders.

Qualifications

We are seeking someone with:

• 5-9 years of post-admission experience gained working in-house or in a top-tier, international or mid-tier firm.
• Experience in front-end construction, infrastructure and/or major projects.
• Prior in-house or secondment experience is desirable but not required.
