Job summary

DLL seeks a Legal Counsel to provide professional legal services mainly for Australia, with support for New Zealand and Singapore as needed. Qualifications

  • Experience with PPSA, AML/CTF, privacy and Australian Consumer Law.
  • NZ or Singapore transactions knowledge is helpful but not essential.
  • Ability to collaborate with sales, credit, compliance and external lawyers.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Law, admitted to practise in an Australian state or territory.

Responsibilities

  • Negotiate and draft local vendor agreements.
  • Draft and review customised transactional documents for non-standard transactions (finance, security, etc.).
  • Standardise local documentation and keep it up to date.
  • Assist collections and recoveries on dispute resolution and insolvency.

As Legal Counsel, you will be expected to provide professional legal services primarily for Australia, and for New Zealand and Singapore on as needed basis. This role will have broad exposure to different areas of the business, including healthcare, technologies, and food and agriculture.

The Legal Counsel will be generally expected to perform the following functions:

  • Negotiating and drafting of documentation in respect of local vendor agreements.
  • Negotiating, drafting and review of customised transactional legal documentation for non-standard transactions, including finance agreements, security agreements, priority agreements, etc.
  • Standardisation of local documentation and for keeping such standard documentation up to date.
  • Assisting collections and recoveries team on dispute resolution and insolvency.
  • Assisting with various compliance related tasks, including AML/CTF, Privacy and review of marketing materials.
  • Working closely with Credit and Compliance departments to ensure internal policy requirements are met for transactions.
  • Contributing to DLL Legal’s document and contract library and maintenance of the same.
  • As required, instruct and manage external lawyers on matters requiring external legal advice.
Your Profile
  • Strong drafting skills for different legal documentation including commercial cooperation agreements, finance agreements, security agreements, priority agreements, etc.
  • Strong interest in developing a career in a finance business.
  • Past experience in the PPSA, AML/CTF, privacy and/or Australian Consumer Law is required.
  • Knowledge of or experience in transactions based in New Zealand or Singapore is not essential but helpful.
  • Being able to work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders (including sales managers, credit analysts, compliance officers, internal and external lawyers, asset managers, vendor partners etc).
  • Tertiary qualifications in Law, admitted to practise in an Australian state or territory.
To Succeed In This Role, You Will Need
  • At least two years of PQE gained in a corporate or finance environment, from private practice or in-house;
  • Experience in finance agreements, commercial contracts and PPSA;
  • Ability to set own agenda and manage your workload in a fast-paced environment;
  • Strong relationship building and communication skills.
