Job summary

Bega Group is seeking a mid-level lawyer to join its high-performing in-house legal team for a 12-month fixed-term role. You’ll advise on commercial, IP, consumer law and marketing compliance across iconic Australian brands, with mentorship from experienced in-house counsel and close partnership with the business.

Qualifications

• Qualified lawyer in Australia with a LLB or JD and practising certificate.
• 4–6 years' post-qualification experience, in-house experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of Australian Consumer Law, marketing regulations and intellectual property.
• Excellent drafting, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
• Commercial and pragmatic mindset; ability to manage competing priorities.

Responsibilities

• Provide practical legal advice on commercial agreements, IP, consumer law and regulatory matters across the Bega Group Beverages and Water Ice portfolios.
• Draft, review and negotiate contracts, identifying risks and partnering with stakeholders to achieve commercially sound outcomes.
• Review product artwork, marketing campaigns, PR materials and social media content for compliance.
• Support trademark portfolio management and brand protection activities with external providers.
• Deliver legal training, improve processes and build relationships to proactively manage risk.

Responsibilities

• Provide practical legal advice on commercial agreements, intellectual property, consumer law and regulatory matters across the Bega Group Beverages and Water Ice portfolios.
• Draft, review and negotiate contracts, identifying risks and partner with stakeholders to achieve commercially sound outcomes.
• Review product artwork, marketing campaigns, PR materials and social media content to ensure legal and regulatory compliance.
• Support trademark portfolio management and brand protection activities in collaboration with external legal providers.
• Deliver legal training, improve legal processes and build strong relationships across the business to proactively manage risk.

About you

• Qualified lawyer in Australia with a Bachelor of Laws or Juris Doctor and holds a current practising certificate
• Approximately 4-6 years' post-qualification experience, with in-house legal experience viewed favourably
• Strong knowledge of Australian Consumer Law, marketing and advertising regulations, and intellectual property matters
• Excellent drafting, negotiation, communication and stakeholder management skills, with a commercial and pragmatic mindset
• Self-motivated team player who can manage competing priorities while building trusted relationships across the organisation
