Job description

You might be exactly who we're looking for.

At Tasracing, we’re searching for a highly organised, people-focused professional who thrives on keeping things running smoothly behind the scenes. Someone who enjoys solving problems, loves structure, has exceptional attention to detail, and can build great relationships across a business.

Most importantly, we’re looking for someone who will be a great fit for our team.

If you're currently working as an Executive Assistant, Personal Assistant, Legal Administrator, Governance Officer, Compliance Coordinator, or in a similar role, this could be your opportunity to take the next step.

About Us:

At Tasracing, racing is our passion. Tasracing is Tasmania's Principal Racing Authority, entrusted with the comprehensive development and promotion of the state's racing industry. As the governing body, we oversee the ongoing growth of racing and breeding, market Tasmanian racing to local, national, and international audiences, fund race clubs, provide stakes and prize money, manage racing venues, and ensure the smooth operation of race day activities. Our work is driven by a commitment to growing and sustaining the racing industry, with a strong focus on animal welfare and integrity.

With over 150 years of history and a team of over 250 employees, we’re committed to building a united and vibrant industry Tasmania can be proud of.

The Opportunity

As our Legal & Compliance Coordinator, you'll work closely with the General Manager, Legal & Compliance and become a trusted member of the team. You'll help coordinate governance activities, support compliance reporting, manage legal administration processes, and keep important projects moving forward. No two days are exactly the same, which is part of what makes this role interesting.

We're open to discussing a schedule that works for the right candidate, with 30 to 38 hours per week available. The role is based at Ladbrokes Park Elwick in Glenorchy, with the flexibility of hybrid working options.

In This Role You'll...

Be the person who keeps our Legal & Compliance team organised, connected and operating efficiently.

Support the preparation of Board, committee and governance reporting that helps inform important business decisions.

Coordinate compliance activities and reporting timelines, helping the business stay on track with key obligations.

Build strong relationships across Tasracing, working with a variety of stakeholders to gather information, coordinate actions and support outcomes.

Manage legal documentation, contracts, records and registers with accuracy and attention to detail.

Assist with governance and regulatory processes, making sure records and information are maintained to a high standard.

Coordinate meetings, manage diaries and prepare minutes, reports and other business documentation.

Support Right to Information requests and other administrative processes within the Legal & Compliance function.

Identify opportunities to improve systems, processes and ways of working.

Become a trusted support person within the team who can confidently juggle priorities and keep things moving forward.

You’ll succeed if you are:

Exceptionally organised

Naturally proactive

Highly professional and trustworthy

A strong communicator who builds positive relationships

Someone who notices the details others miss

Confident working independently while remaining a collaborative team member

You’ll likely bring experience in:

Executive or personal assistant roles

Legal administration

Governance support

Compliance or regulatory environments

Senior administrative positions

Experience with the Right to Information Act 2009 is advantageous but not essential
