Job summary

University of Queensland invites applications for a teaching-focused, fixed-term position in the School of Law (Faculty of Business, Economics and Law) at the St Lucia Campus. The role offers base salary $119,463 – $141,545 plus 17% superannuation, up to two years, Academic Level B.

The appointee will deliver undergraduate core law courses, contribute to curriculum development, support student success, and advance pedagogical leadership across the School of Law.

Qualifications

• Doctoral qualification in law (conferred or near completion).
• Experience teaching undergraduate and/or postgraduate legal education.
• Ability to develop and deliver courses covering Priestley 11 knowledge areas.
• Evidence of curriculum, materials and assessment development.
• Strong teaching excellence evidenced by evaluations or awards.
• Demonstrated ability to lead educational innovation and pedagogy.
• Experience supervising undergraduate/postgraduate student research.
• Ability to build relationships with colleagues, industry, government and the legal community.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and collaboration skills with inclusive workplace commitment.

Key responsibilities

• Teaching: Teach compulsory and elective law courses across undergraduate and postgraduate programs, coordinate courses, develop innovative curriculum and assessment materials, and enhance student learning and engagement through evidence-based teaching practices.
• Research and/or Teaching Practice and Impact: Contribute to the School's culture of educational excellence through leadership in teaching practice and educational innovation, mentor and support colleagues, and supervise undergraduate and postgraduate student research projects.
• Citizenship and Service: Engage in citizenship, service and engagement activities that support the School, Faculty and University, while contributing to a collaborative and inclusive academic community.

About You

• A doctoral qualification in law that has either been conferred, is under examination, or is in the final stages of completion.
• Demonstrated experience teaching and supporting student learning within undergraduate and/or postgraduate legal education.
• A willingness and ability to develop, coordinate and deliver courses that comprise the Priestley 11 prescribed areas of knowledge required for admission to legal practice.
• Evidence of developing innovative curriculum, learning materials and assessment practices that enhance student outcomes.
• A strong commitment to teaching excellence, supported by teaching evaluations, peer recognition, awards and/or other indicators of impact.
• Demonstrated capability to contribute to educational leadership, pedagogical innovation and the broader culture of teaching excellence.
• Experience supervising or supporting undergraduate and/or postgraduate student research projects.
• The ability to establish productive relationships with colleagues, industry, government, professional bodies and the wider legal community.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal and collaboration skills, with a commitment to inclusive and respectful workplace practices.
