Qualifications

• PhD in an academic field relevant to the discipline is preferred.

• Ability to design, implement and evaluate teaching initiatives.

The Sydney School of Health Sciences is undergoing significant growth and investment as part of the Faculty of Medicine and Health’s strategic vision. We are seeking a Lecturer (Level A/B) with expertise in Exercise and Sport Science. The successful candidate will make a substantial contribution to teaching and learning through the delivery, design, and evaluation of high-quality educational programs. They will also be expected to build their research profile, strengthen their disciplinary expertise, and contribute to research impact within the School and broader academic community. Based in the state-of-the-art Susan Wakil Health Building at the Camperdown campus, the successful candidate will contribute to the delivery of teaching across strength and conditioning, sport science, and exercise science units of study. This role offers an exciting opportunity to make a significant contribution to teaching and learning through the development, delivery, and evaluation of high-quality educational experiences. The successful candidate will be a collaborative and engaged academic who is committed to excellence in teaching and ready to contribute across a broad range of academic activities. The position also provides opportunities to contribute to research and scholarship in Exercise and Sport Science as part of a multidisciplinary team within the Faculty of Medicine and Health.

Your key responsibilities include:

• Undertake educational innovation, curriculum design and review, contributing to outstanding educational delivery and outcomes
• Engage in high-quality teaching and learning experiences which meet the University’s expectations and standards for education
• Contribute to the School’s research activities, expertise, and impact.
• Engage in supervision of higher-degree research students
• Establish collaborations and partnerships to enhance the research profile and reputation of the university
• Carry out administrative tasks primarily connected with the area of discipline
• Contribute to a positive workplace culture in which diversity of thought, contribution, collaboration, excellence and achieving outcomes are valued and enabled
• Undertake other duties appropriate within the classification level as required.

About you

• PhD in an academic field relevant to the discipline is preferred
• Current registration with Exercise and Sport Science Australia (ESSA) as an Accredited Exercise Scientist or Accredited Sports Scientist (ASpS) and /or current registration with Australian Strength and Conditioning Association (ASCA) would be preferred
• Experience in teaching and learning in a tertiary environment, as evidenced by coordination of units and supervision of students in practicals, on placements and/or in discipline-related simulation teaching
• Relevant experience and expertise in strength and conditioning and sports science
• Demonstrated success in designing implementing and evaluating teaching and learning initiatives
• Demonstrated ability to foster inclusive, equitable and respectful learning environments
• A developing network of relationships with key academic, clinical and professional institutions, partners and stakeholders.
