Job summary

Morisset High School, part of the NSW Department of Education, seeks a School Learning Support Officer to assist students with diverse learning needs in classrooms and learning environments under teacher direction. Essential requirements include a Working with Children Check, mandatory Department training, and willingness to undertake first aid training.

Qualifications

• Working with Children Check Clearance is required.
• Mandatory Department of Education training must be completed.
• Willingness to undertake first aid training.
• Training for administration of medications will be provided as needed.
• Health support training will be provided as needed.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Ability to work with students with emotional, physical or intellectual disabilities.
• Awareness of the needs of students with disabilities.
• Effective communication skills.
• Capacity to support students with Autism in the learning environment.

Responsibilities

• Support for students with identified diverse learning needs in classrooms and other learning environments.
• Provide student welfare, health and wellbeing activities as required.
• Support students in streams/settings: pre-school, vision support, hearing support, bilingual.
• Work under the direction and supervision of a teacher to support educational outcomes.
• Assist in developing social capabilities for students with Autism.
