Job summary

Drouin Secondary College seeks a Learning Specialist to advance high-quality teaching and learning across the school. The role focuses on classroom practice, mentoring, and leading school-wide professional learning.

You will work with staff to improve achievement, engagement and wellbeing, modelling effective teaching, data-informed planning and collaborative professional growth within the Department of Education context in Victoria.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated expert knowledge of the relevant curriculum.
• Demonstrated ability to model exemplary teaching practice, including literacy and numeracy across the curriculum.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrating high-level expertise in teaching and learning practice.
• Modeling exemplary classroom practice including through teaching demonstration lessons.
• Working with the school leadership team to develop a shared view of highly effective teacher practice.
• Leading and modelling the implementation of whole-school improvement strategies related to curriculum planning and delivery.
• Playing a key role in the provision of professional learning, including developing processes for observation and feedback of teacher practice.
• Modeling effective learning practice and supporting teachers to seek, analyse and act on feedback.
• Providing evidence-based feedback to teaching staff to inform their development.
• Providing expert advice about context and strategies shaping professional learning.
• Supervising and training student teachers and mentoring/coaching teachers.
• Modelling use of student data to inform teaching approaches.
• Developing school-wide professional learning structures and protocols through PLCs.
• Seeking feedback from others to improve practice as part of reflective inquiry.
