The Learning and Development Manager has a critical role to play in enabling excellence in HR practice across Australia.

The Role

Reporting to the GM, HR Standards and Capability, the Learning & Development Manager plays a pivotal role in overseeing the design, development, and enhancement of AHRI’s learning products. This includes short courses, micro-credentials, RTO courses, mentoring programs, and HR certification.

With three direct reports, you’ll foster a culture of collaboration and innovation while working closely with external subject matter experts (SMEs) and contractors to deliver high-quality learning experiences that align with industry trends and AHRI member needs.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Lead the development of AHRI’s learning products, including short courses, micro-credentials, and HR certification.
  2. Ensure alignment of learning products with AHRI’s Capability Framework, HR trends, and member needs.
  3. Manage a team of Product Development Specialists and a Graphic Designer, providing leadership and mentorship.
  4. Oversee multiple product development projects, ensuring timely delivery and quality standards.
  5. Engage with internal and external stakeholders, including SMEs and contractors, to develop high-quality content.
  6. Work with marketing teams to create product toolkits for promotion and sales.
  7. Monitor and evaluate the performance of learning products, driving continuous improvement.
  8. Ensure compliance with regulatory and quality standards in product development.

What you’ll bring:

  1. Undergraduate Degree in Business, HR or a related field is desirable.
  2. TAE Qualifications and AHRI certification desirable.
  3. Proven experience in instructional design and assessment development, ideally within HR or education.
  4. A proven track record of leading and developing high-performing teams.
  5. Strong understanding of HR principles, practices, and emerging industry trends.
  6. Ability to manage multiple projects, ensuring seamless execution.
  7. Experience working with SMEs and contractors, with the ability to guide and influence senior professionals.
