Job summary

G.J. Gardner Homes ACT is seeking a proactive Leading Hand for residential builds in the ACT region. You will support the Construction Supervisor, coordinate trades, monitor site standards, and resolve defects to ensure smooth handovers. This is a Monday–Friday, site-based role with potential for progression.

The ideal candidate is trade-qualified with hands-on experience, a friendly team player mindset, and a drive to advance within a supportive local team.

Qualifications

• Background in residential construction, carpentry, fabrication, or manufacturing.
• Strong interpersonal skills and teamwork.
• Self-motivated with ability to identify and solve on-site issues.
• Organised with good records and trade coordination.
• Must have valid Driver’s Licence and White Card.

Responsibilities

• Support Construction Supervisor with daily build progress and priorities.
• Coordinate defect resolution and uphold high handover standards.
• Oversee site safety and cleanliness for trades and visitors.
• Lead hands-on tasks and assist with on-site installations.
• Plan ahead for materials, tools and contractor needs.
